Tom and Jeannie here from the luxury liner, Reunion. Small and slow are the key words for us. We came in from Oklahoma on a big, fast
airliner to a huge fast paced city, Toronto.
Beautiful sunshine and cool temps have been a welcome change to us as we
traveled with Dennis and Carol on their boat, they call a trawler, Dennis said
right at the beginning we had to think small.
Then we started the six mile per hour trip interrupted every mile or so
by waiting for the lock procedures. All
the while bumping my head and squeezing through tight doorways and
restrooms. But I must say it relaxes
you. And the eye candy is incredible. And the activity you witness and play a part
in definitely keeps you entertained.
After Dennis showed off the engine room (I would call it a compartment),
we struck out up the rivers and began seeing some stuff I will remember for a
long time. Old locks and dams operated
by hand and staffed by mostly young people.
Friendly young people who cranked cranks and walked the circular track
required to open the locks. Like I said,
slow. But fascinating to think of the
folks who constructed these apparatus some 200 years ago! And dug the deep canals! For an Okie, it’s eye candy.
Then the beautiful waters and woods and cabins people have
built to house their weekends and good-times.
And of course the wonderful eats.
Thanks for the good, relaxing time, Dennis and Carol. Thanks for smalling us down and slowing us
down!
PS Dennis, I loved
all the gadgetry and listening to your explaining it!
