It was a beautiful cruising day on Georgian Bay. With a clear sky and small waves all we had
to think about – constantly – were rocks, islands and more rocks. In two spots we opted to go out into the main
channel or ship channel. Those areas
are marked as “canoe channel” near mm 13 and from mm 37 to 47 where boats over
40 feet are warned about tight corners and shallow water. So we had some stretches of wide-open
water. We did explore one “shortcut”
that looked promising, but as the water went rapidly from 60 ft to 10 ft we
called it off and turned around. I guess
there is a reason everyone says Stay In The Channel.
We are docked tonight at Wright’s Marina. It’s the first marina going up the Byng Inlet
towards the town of Britt. Nice little
spot run by a family and it has laundry facilities, which was my first priority
today.

A lighthouse in the ship canal |
Love the lighthouse! The rocks are beautiful, but dangerous for the boaters. Keep on keepin' on, friends!
