Mallett’s Bay and Sugarbush VT

We met Al and Charli for breakfast on Friday morning and then Charli and I went shopping, while Al and Dennis moved the boat down to the Moorings Marina at Mallett’s Bay.  Burlington Boathouse did not have space for us to stay all weekend.  The Moorings is a nice marina and located in a beautiful round bay surrounded by the hills of Vermont.  We picked up the guys at Mallet’s Bay and headed southeast, inland to be tourists and stay at the Nauda’s condo at Sugarbush.

Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory
It was a grand day, sunny, 78 degrees and perfect sightseeing weather.  We went to the Green Mountain coffee factory and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream tour where the flavor of the day was Vanilla with chocolate covered waffle cone chunks.  From there it was on to the Apple Cider Mill and finally to the Stoweflake Balloon Festival at Stowe Vermont.  It was breathtaking to see 20+ hot air balloons rise up into the mountain scenery and soar away in the evening.  They schedule the balloon lifts for evening and morning to take advantage of cool temperatures and updrafts that help the balloons travel through the air.

We finished the evening with dinner at the Green Mountain Inn.  Prime rib and Lobster were our choices from a great menu and we enjoyed ourselves immensely and got to know some of Al and Charli’s family.

Saturday morning we slept in, then wandered around a farmer’s market and some shops in Waitfield.  We drove through the hills and stopped at a waterfall and a general store before heading back to the condo.  Spent the rest of the day relaxing and had a nice supper before our hosts sent us on our way along with their Jeep to use to run errands and do boat chores on Sunday.
