Kingsland Bay to Burlington VT

Lake Champlain is deep, 300+ feet then a rock sticks up
It was a short ride up Lake Champlain today, only 2 hours to get to the Burlington Community Boathouse marina this morning.  When we arrived Charli and Al, Looper friends from “Always 5 O'clock” and Seminole Florida, were on the dock to greet us.  They are spending the summer near Stowe VT and we were delighted to meet up with them again here in the north.

After a casual lunch with them and the Mazel Tug crew, we walked up (straight up in these hills) to the shopping district and enjoyed a really pretty downtown; lots of neat shops, art galleries and outdoor entertainment.  Burlington is home to the University of Vermont and their pedestrian area reminded us of Madison Wisconsin, or Boulder Colorado.

Then we jumped in their car and headed for Middlebury VT for a music festival.  Middlebury is also a very pretty town in the rolling Vermont mountains, lots of flowers in bloom and neat old homes.  Every town seems to have a white church steeple or two and a small college.   The concert was in a park and featured a celtic/folk trio.  We also had a good dinner at the Two Brothers tavern.  It’s a pleasure to run into old friends in new places.
