Welcome to Leg three of "Bringing Reunion Home"

Nice cottage on the river |
Both Jim and I took the Amtrak overnight train from Chicago to Syracuse, NY.
I arrived Saturday morning and Jim this morning. We were able to leave
Brewerton about 2:00 and traveled through two locks, one down and the second
up, and about 20 miles to Baldwinsville one of the busiest locks on the canal
due to the proximity to the Oswego Canal and Erie canals. There are several
lakes that are connected by the canal system that provide a great boating area
for local boaters. We traveled through residential areas not unlike those we
might see on the Wolf or Fox rivers in Wisconsin.

The Line Up |
Baldwinsville has a very nice long pier, some floating and some
part of the canal wall. The tie ups are free and they charge $5.00 for electric
service for the evening. That area was
full by the time we arrived and the lockmaster suggested we could tie up at the
floating pier on the north side of the canal. We spent some time just walking
around viewing the locking system from a whole new perspective with other
boaters that are here. Baldwinsville will have fireworks on Tuesday evening and
some people are already tied to the wall with small tents set up and lawn
chairs, just a bit early I think.
Good weather today with a fair amount of wind from the northwest
but since we travelled west, south, southwest, southeast, northwest and then
north we experienced the wind from many directions. All in all a good day
making the transition from land back to traveling on the water.
