We spent a lovely day in Grafton, IL. This morning Dennis did engine work and I
cleaned for awhile and then we went for a walk around town. Its basically one charming Main Street and
goes for about 3 blocks. Old buildings
that in some towns would be abandoned are inhabited by a variety of small
businesses here. There are several gift
shops, 3 or 4 antique shops, 4 ice cream stops, and assorted others. I was particularly interested in the antique
shops since I was hunting for an embroidery hoop – and found some.
This evening we went to the Grafton Winery where they have a
selection of locally made wines for tasting.
They also had a fine chef who served up some specials for the day. There was a duet playing blues, jazz and a
little 1960’s rock ‘n roll. We enjoyed
the company of Loopers from Blue Haven, Gemini, and some new folks from
Michigan City. There are 10 Looper boats
here at Grafton this evening. The big
change has been in the weather, which is expected to drop into the 40’s
tonight. But it should be back in the
80’s next week.
