Adam and Ayla on the playground |
This morning we started with a big blueberry pancake
breakfast and then Debi and Tom headed off to play with the kids and we headed
out to continue the voyage north. They
spent the day hiking and kayaking and swimming.
We spent the day traveling 54 miles up the Hudson River. We have purchased our two day lock pass for
the next part of the trip up the Champlain Canal.
It was a perfect boat day, sunny sky, very light breeze and
almost no traffic. The Hudson is deep so
you don’t have to worry about depths, and wide, so you don’t have to worry
about meeting the occasional tow and tugboat.
We came past Shady Harbor marina, which looked very nice, and the
Castleton marina – also looked good but without protection for the slips. We are at Albany Yacht Club and it is a small
marina, but has nice floating docks, clean facilities and is only a short
distance to groceries, liquor store, ice cream and other looper favorites. One of the neatest things to see along this
stretch are all the old-fashioned lighthouses on the Hudson. Each one is a distinct piece of architecture
and is really a HOUSE and not just a bright light in a tower
This evening we enjoyed brats from the grill and a good
supper along with stories from Ayla and Adam.

I'm impressed with how often you're arranging to meet up with family and friends along your journey. I'm sure the grands enjoyed their time with you on Reunion, and their parents likely did too! Tomorrow I take sister Sue to LRock for her VA appt, then home to teach yoga class. Tuesday Frank and I go back to LRock for a gathering in memory of his nephew who died last week. Wed we'll head for Hermann, MO for a couple days to celebrate my birthday, and Sat several of the Hansen women are going to see BJ Thomas in concert at a casino in Pocolo, OK! Fun times, oh yeah!
