IVY Club to Quiver Island Anchorage Havana, IL

We were not able to get a clear lock time from the Peoria Lockmaster so we departed at 7:45 this morning. We arrived at the lock about 9:00 and were told to wait for two hours. There was a restaurant called Kuchies with a dock sized for smaller runabout boats but 4 of us tied off to the pier, then three more boats joined us. Jan the owner put on a pot of coffee and we waited. I called the lockmaster to tell him where we had stopped, he laughed and said well bring some hamburgers. The cook arrived at 10:00 and we ordered hamburgers to be cooked once the lockmaster cleared us to lock through. The call came at 11 we took 4 to go hamburgers to the lockmaster and crew and 6 of the 7 boats ordered to go lunches. The lock tenders were quite happy with lunch and we locked down before noon. Kuchies makes a great hamburger and fries to go, tonight our group photo is on Kuchies Facebook page.

Once through the lock cruising was pretty normal, lots of barge traffic. We passed the red rowboat again, I asked if we had seen him in Peoria Lake and he nodded yes. Blue Haven a fellow traveler, slowed and talked with him. He is traveling by row boat from Chicago to New Orleans, what an adventure. Tonight we had decktails on Gemni with  Blue Haven, See to Sea, and Namaste we enjoy meeting Loopers and hearing stories about their adventures.
