Reunion is recapatated |
The last piece of the canvas work went up today. It all looks great. Canvas Plus does an excellent job and we
would recommend them to anyone. They
replaced our 1” stainless ribs with 1.25” and changed the shape of the
top. It is about a foot lower than the
previous Bimini, providing more shade and lower exposure to the wind. It is also possible now to wipe it down
without standing on something. The
wicked storm has been resolved with the best possible results. We are thankful for an excellent response from
our Progressive insurance agents and inspectors, a great canvas maker(Canvas Plus) and Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbor provided a really good deal on dockage for our stay.

The new windshield folds up to the roof bow |
We did make a foray to nearby Middletown for groceries and
the country area we drove through is filled with giant horse farms. Acres and acres of green pasture, outlined
with wooden fences and populated with beautiful thoroughbred horses. It looks a little like Wisconsin, with broad
green fields and clean, well-kept red barns and white houses. The absence of silos is the discernible
difference.
One other interesting item at this marina is the frequent
odd, sudden loud slap against the pier or the boats. Apparently this is spawning season and some
sort of large fish in this water flings themselves against the hard objects to
shake their eggs loose in the water.
Kind of startling but the natives say it lasts for a week or two in
early June.
